Please reach us at info@lakecountrygoldens.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Our puppies are born and raised in our home, underfoot, and centrally located. They are exposed to day-to-day life right from the start and loved on daily.
Our puppies are socialized safely on our property by our large family. We complete early neurological stimulation (ENS) and incorporate puppy culture and Avidog methods. They meet other dogs, cats, and young children, and go on age-appropriate "field trips" where they are exposed to different sights, sounds, smells, and surfaces.
Absolutely! We do not breed dogs that we don’t have good reason to truly believe will produce happy and HEALTHY progeny. We test hips, elbows, eyes, heart, and genetics. Feel free to ask questions if you'd like clarification on specific dogs' clearances.
Our puppies start at $3500 at eight weeks for males and $3650 for females. We also offer a guaranteed first or second pick for an additional fee for those who are really looking for something specific. (We sometimes have puppies available for $2850 from a darker line, but don't have any currently planned at this time.) Older puppies and young adult dogs cost more, depending on their age and level of training. We take $500 nonrefundable deposits to reserve, which of course goes toward the price of your puppy. If you are interested in a lower-priced puppy, as mentioned above, or have a preferred price range for an older pup, feel free to specify in your application and we will see if we have a good fit for you :)
The nature of your deposit is a commitment. Just like you wouldn't want us to back out of our commitment to provide you with a puppy, we ask that you understand that once your deposit is made, we (and your puppy!) are counting on you :) There is a great article about nonrefundable deposits on Good Dog if you'd like to understand this point a little better here: What you need to know about non-refundable deposits (gooddog.com). Of course, we know that sometimes life events can happen beyond our control. In that case, we are always happy to transfer your deposit to a future litter!
We take deposits via Venmo as a payment between friends or through our secure Good Dog payment link. At the time of pickup, we can accept the balance for your puppy by cashier's check, cash, or electronic methods such as Venmo, Paypal, or Zelle made prior (fees may apply).
Our puppies come from champion bloodlines and health tested parents, with a health guarantee, AKC limited registration, 30 days of health insurance through Trupanion, microchipped, vet cleared, dewormed, vaccinated, socialized, and with a puppy pack full of helpful items and goodies for a smooth transition with your puppy, such as treats, a familiar toy, and a blanket with mom and siblings' scent on it.
Join our waiting list by following Steps One, Two, and Four on our Join the Family! page. Once your deposit is made, your place in line is secure and we will contact you when we have an available puppy that meets your preferences. You then have the option of confirming your place in that litter or waiting for a future litter more to your liking!
*NOTE: Please feel free to still keep an eye on our social media pages, as sometimes puppies become available unexpectedly and need to be placed quickly. In these instances, we don't have time to go through our entire waiting list before listing them as available.
Once you confirm your litter, you will skip to Step Five on our Join the Family! page and begin getting ready for Gotcha! Day :) We will provide everything you need prior to pickup over the coming weeks, including dates scheduled for selections and pickup, recommended items, and photo and video updates so you can watch your puppy grow <3
We put together detailed photo and video profiles of each puppy to allow families the most reliable way of comparing between them remotely. Selections begin when the puppies are around 7 weeks of age using these profiles, temperament tests, and guided by us, who know the puppies best at this stage. Beginning selections at 7 weeks gives the puppies as much time as possible to develop their individual characteristics and personalities. We ask that you put your trust in us through this process :) We have tried many different methods of selections, and though this is the most time intensive method (for us!), we believe it results in the happiest matches :)
We ask that you default to email and Facebook messenger to communicate with us for a few reasons. As caretakers of dogs, puppies, and small children (and being country folk with less-than-stellar cell reception), we don't keep our phones on us, and need to "batch" our communication as much as possible. Text correspondence also allow us to better keep record of our communications, which is helpful for the next person answering emails to reference. That being said, we still want to hear your voice! The person-to-person connection is still so valuable to us, and so we love to schedule informal phone interviews, particularly at the time of deposit, for Monday and Wednesday afternoons :)
We LOVE to have visitors! However, due to time constraints and as a safety precaution for our family and dogs, we simply cannot accommodate the high number of visit requests we receive. We have made the difficult choice to limit visits to those who already have a deposit with us and are committed to a litter. While we love meeting new people, we ask that you understand our first responsibility is to our family, our dogs, and those planning on adopting from us. And we look SO forward to hosting you when you arrive to meet your puppy <3
Above all, we ask that you be honest, kind, and sincere with us. We ask that you do all within your power to give your dog a loving home and good life. We understand that not everyone has the perfect situation, but we also believe everyone deserves the love of a golden. Let's all strive together to be the good people that our dogs think we are!
